In the early days of Windows 3.0 a nice program called "MusicBox" came with the Multimedia Extensions. It was the first of his kind and still has a nice feature : His About Box indicates the "Disc Id" without having to look at his ini file. (I included it in this mail, doesn't require any dll, 75k only, thanks C++). Then came Windows 95 and CD Player. This time the computation is the same, but stored as an hexadecimal literal in the CDPLAYER.INI file as you know. Now the problem : my collection holds more than 1000 CDs and is managed under Microsoft Access with a dabase holding a field called (you guessed it) Disc_Id. Monthes and monthes ago I tried (but failed) to compute this number by using mciSendString calls through the WinMM.dll.
